But did you know that some Amazon “reviews” are nothing but joke comments?

I am the same way Astro, I really do like Amazon and all my purchases are effected somehow by the reviews left by other people. That is really a great feature of amazon.

Great post, funny reviews.
I rely on Amazon reviews before buying, even if I don’t buy it on Amazon. I am a long term Amazon customer and find many reviews-very interesting. I was an Amazon Associate until they dumped all of us from Arkansas-but that is another story.

Stan, you ask excellent questions. Why these products are there? Some of them are real. I actually ordered the T-shirt. The milk? No idea! The comedy contest is informal, without any tangible prize, and judged by the number of people marking the comment as “helpful.” Anyone with an Amazon account can “vote” and enter, but to get the top ranking on some of these could take years — they are cult classics that have been around long enough for some comments to get hundreds of “votes.”

I guess I only read reviews if I’m checking out a product and haven’t actually purchased much other than books and some gadgets. I don’t know where I’ve been but I didn’t find them to be humorous at all. Actually, they were very helpful with my decision on whether or not I should purchase that particular product.
I guess some of these products need a little humor. I can see why they would need it that’s for sure.

Hey, Satrap thanks for stopping by. One of the things that got me into blogging was writing product reviews on Amazon. I realized that users were finding my reviews helpful and that my own blog could do the same thing. I don’t review products I don’t really believe in and am a long-term, satisfied Amazon customer. I think it’s great that they keep up these nutty “reviews.”
