Photo of a Swiss Army Chron Classic Black Dial WatchTrue story:  I met a guy the other day and he was wearing a really sharp looking wrist watch.

I said, “Nice watch.  What kind is it?”

“It’s a Swiss Army Watch,” he said.  Well, I didn’t even know that the people who make the famous Swiss Army knives also made watches.  I made a note to check Amazon.

Turns out that Victorinox started selling fine watches in the United States in 1989 under the brand name Swiss Army.

This is the watch the guy was wearing.

Swiss Army makes other great watches.  I just happen to like the high-tech good looks of the Victorinox Swiss Army Men’s 241171 Chrono Classic Black Dial Watch.

Pros:

  • Scratch resistant sapphire crystal window
  • Water resistant to 100 meters (330 feet)
  • Reliable quartz movement
  • Comfortable, deployment-style clasp

Cons:
Among Swiss Watches like the Tag Heuer the Swiss Army watch is not the most expensive Swiss timepiece.

But if you ask me, this chronometer looks great for a FRACTION of the price.  You can be proud to present Dad or a new grad a timepiece of this quality.

My Opinion:

The Victorinox Swiss Army Men’s 241171 Chrono Classic Black Dial Watch offers Swiss reliability, a classic analog look, and excellent value for the money.

The Swiss Army brand is a relative newcomer for quality timepieces but in two decades has earned a reputation for rugged quality.

If you have always wanted the quality of a Swiss watch, the high tech look, and worry free operation, this could be the timepiece for you.  Incredible value.  One reviewer calls it “a steal.”

Cool watch. I love collecting mid-priced watches. I don’t know if it’s the workmanship or the look of a watch. I’ve always thought these Swiss Army watches were super looking.

LOL same here! I never expected that there’s a swiss army watch too. All I though is they are only knives maker. The price is pretty affordable. I wonder if its also as high quality as their knives.

I refuse to wear a watch because it pulls the hair on my arm. Also, I have a cellphone. No need for a watch.

  7. Michael Belk says:

Swiss army watches are really nice. The name itself says luxury. People who know watches, have this one in their collection. Great review.

I have never been big on wearing a watch. When I was younger I was just too active and too careless. So my watch would get caught on things or I’d scratch it up. These days I always have a clock on my cell phone, which just makes it seem unnecessary. It seems to be more about style now and that’s not much of a priority for me.
