Why You Need an Expensive Swiss Watch

Tag Heuer chronometerA fine Swiss watch tells more about you than the time.

Worn by divers, race car drivers, fighter pilots and astronauts, fine Swiss timepieces such as TAG Heuer or Rolex are a personal investment with a very public face.

Sure a lower priced watch will tell you the time and the date.

But a Rolex or TAG Heuer remind you (and everyone else) that time is money and may help get you a date.

You have to ask yourself, “Am I the kind of guy who would be attracted to a beautiful, materialistic woman who would notice me just because I wear an expensive watch?”

If the answer is, “Well, frankly, yes,” it may be time to start looking for a really nice watch!

Ask yourself these questions:

  • Do I wear my watch every day?  Do I wear it next to my skin, in plain view?
  • Is my watch a reflection of my personal taste and style?
  • Is my watch one of the first components of personal dress that people notice?
  • Do I expect a lot from myself and from my timepiece?
  • Do I deserve to wear a fine watch?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, it may be time to upgrade your chronometer.

A fine watch is a possesion you may well wear for the rest of your life.

Isn’t it about time?

Take a look at these Swiss masterpieces of mechanical engineering and imagine wearing one on your wrist.

When you think of luxury timepieces, you should be thinking of the TAG Heuer Men’s WV211A.BA0787 Carrera Automatic Stainless Steel Watch, a superbly wearable and masculine watch. This watch’s amazing presence begins with a 43.5mm brushed and polished stainless steel case, sapphire crystal exhibition back and a black aluminum bezel, which features a tachymeter with white markers.

The Rolex Daytona Black Index Dial Oyster Bracelet Mens Watch  features A Stainless Steel Oyster Bracelet And Stainless Steel Tachymeter Bezel. Model Number: 116520.  Before you look at the price, admit it, this is a beautiful watch.  Okay maybe not now, but what if money were no object? Wouldn’t you just go ahead and get a fine Swiss timepiece?

When you put on your Swiss watch, you show the world that you care enough to wear the best.  You look sharp, feel sharp, and when you check the time, you remember that you have invested in yourself.  That’s confidence.

What if you could get that same Swiss watch look for a little less cash?

Just a tad more affordable than a Tag.  But tell people this fine watch with a genuine Swiss movement is worth $1,000 and they will believe you.  Check the reviews if you don’t believe me.  Yes, a fine watch looks like a million bucks, no matter what it really costs you.

See what kind of watch Warren Buffet wears.

nice suit or a nice car may last a few years.  A beautiful Swiss chronometer is designed to last a lifetime, holding its value through the years.

Life is a gamble.  When you pick up those dice, show them the wrist of a winner!

Glasses make you look smart.  A fine Swiss watch makes you look smarter.  And as sharp as a Swiss Army knife.

You may think, “That’s just for rich guys.  I’m prepared to wear my small, inexpensive watch until it breaks while other men run around showing off their watches and getting women.  I’ll put my money into other things.”

Other things like what?  Gifts for others?  Who deserves a fine watch more than you?

Investments?  Ha!  Have you checked the rate of inflation lately? And a fine watch is an investment.

Food and shelter?  Good point.  Touche’.

But once you have those, don’t you want confidence, power, and the outward expression of living well?

Do you know what time it is in Stadt?  Do you know where Stadt is?  Does it really matter if you have a really nice, expensive looking watch?

Okay, perhaps you just want a watch that is rugged, reliable and looks pretty expensive?  Here’s a nice one.

Stylish enough for the boardroom but rugged enough for the wakeboard, the Casio Men’s AMW320D-9EV Ana-Digi Alarm Chronograph Dive Watch stainless steel analog-digital watch for men (model AMW320D-9EV) combines the timeless look of an analog watch with the functionality of a digital watch.

Your turn to comment.  IF you had the money, which Swiss watch would be best for yourself or a loved one?

  1. As a female, I’ve found watches helped to remind me when it’s time to dump a cheap guy I was dating. I do notice watches, though. (Not keen on gold chains and earrings on men, I’ll admit). Hmmm, Tag Heuer is nice, although Citizen also makes some stylish watches for men. A Rolex, to me, is a bit too arrogant (just my opinion).

  2. Really I like this post, I have observed that due to recession the prices of almost all products are even less than half of their original prices. For example, today I bought golf club for £12 which had original price £80. But on the other side the prices of all swiss watches are same including Rolex. Thanks for sharing the useful information.

    1. Quite a few folks have mentioned that there is no need for a watch when you have a cell phone, Sue. If I could count on my cell phone to survive tipping over in a canoe, I might consider it! Honestly, once a watch guy, always a watch guy, even if your microwave has the right time. But get the new computer first. 🙂

  3. it’s not about showing off. It’s about owning a piece of jewelry that is masculine and well made. I wear a swiss watch not because they are expensive, but because i feel good wearing one.

  4. Let’s admit, seeing someone wearing a Rolex watch, not replica or fake, makes us say Wow! Don’t you? And yes, I am a believer and fan of Rolex since that I see my parents own an items of Rolex and besides Rolex is has this quality that everyone seek to but yes price is also reasonable. One thing I keep in mind is I need a watch that is long lasting, and two brands tick my mind. Rolex and Swiss.

    1. Buying anything, including an expensive Swiss watch, or the higher-priced spread, makes no sense when you’re broke. Branding is important to people, and if the opinion of other people is of any consequence to you, getting a brand watch is fun (if you can afford it). You are much more likely to lose one of these watches than break one, unless you work in a quarry and hit your wrist with a hammer. 🙂

  5. many years ago, I bought I used Rolex because I thought it would help my career (that was truly ignorant thinking, btw) The ‘fake til you make it’ mentality can be financially devastating.

But the watches here look super nice and they don’t seem to have the expensive price tag that can come with even a used Rolex. Nice post.

    1. Christian, I knew someone would bring up the mobile phone as a timepiece. Sure, moderately easy access, extremely accurate, utilitarian, battery dependent, water resistant to 0 meters . . . and ever so ordinary! 🙂 You’re right, the issue is business style as in dress shirt, tie, suit, and a watch that whispers “success.” I’m starting to believe my own copy!

      1. I agree everyone has a perfectly good “watch” with them at all times in the form of a cell phone, but the wrist watch is more accessory (or man jewelry) these days than necessary for telling time. It doesn’t even need to be a high end watch like a Rolex or Baume & Mercier to look good either. There are many cool looking watches that don’t necessitate bank robbery to afford either. Although wearing a high end Swiss watch does make the testosterone climb a notch I have to admit. 🙂

        1. Nikolas, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. There are cool watches for a lot less, and it’s worth taking a look at the top end to know how they look. True story: A guy had been in the military and had worn a Rolex Oyster for years. His wife was talking to her brother, who was always crowing about his success. Her brother told her he had just gotten a Rolex. She said, “Oh, my husband has had a Rolex for years.” When her brother said, “Really?” she thought she would give him a hard time. “It’s either a Rolex or a Timex.”
